009 Blastoise

Day[9], completed successfully! I went out of my way to sketch this one as quickly as possible, and I'm quite happy with the result, finishing my initial sketch in just 35 minutes (which is fast for me). This gave me much more time to colour it, which I was able to enjoy at my own pace 🙂

There's not really anything I'm unhappy with here - I didn't have chance to add shadows and highlights, but I think it looks okay as it is.

I've taken "drawabox"'s advice and started striking my lines with confidence - they're not as accurate as they would be if I did them more slowly, but they're MUCH cleaner and let me move on to other parts of the sketch much more quickly. Plus, I expect to get more accurate with time.

I also massively slowed myself down by forgetting to wear my artist's glove - once I put it on, the reduced friction meant my lines became much more stable.

Overall, I'm really pleased with this drawing, and I'm delighted with the progress I've made too ❤
