004 Charmander

Day 4 - I had time to colour, today!! I'm really happy with how this turned out, though it highlighted just how little I actually know about how to colour things properly. I relied heavily on the reference image to figure out which colours should go where, and relied on it entirely for colour choice (with the exception of shadows).

This was the first drawing where I made heavy use of construction lines. I'm definitely getting better at judging proportions, and I'm starting to treat the reference images like inspiration rather than instructions, which is a fantastic place to be in :)

I don't know if I'll keep pushing myself to be able to colour future drawings, it was a lot of added pressure for a fairly simple drawing - we'll see. 😊
